Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I want to move my Davenport Warmblood colt from East London to Cape Town. He was vaccinated 15 months ago. What is the procedure?

Asked: 14/4/2008, 12:44 by Megan Thwaites.
Answered: 19/4/2008, 21:11 by James Urry.

Thank you for your responsible approach to movement into South Africa's

Export Zone in the Western Cape at this critical time.

Given the extent of the current and ongoing outbreak in Eastern Cape, it is

not possible to accurately predict when the local State Vet will authorize

this movement.

Alternatively, the following option is available:

Healthy, correctly vaccinated horses (with health certificate from Private

veterinarian) may be moved under cover of a normal movement permit issued by

the State Veterinarian in the province of origin to the quarantine facility

in Beaufort West for a compulsory 3 week quarantine period. Dr Jaco Pienaar

(Tel: 023 414 2154) State Vet Beaufort West should be contacted to arrange

the necessary quarantine.

For all general enquiries please contact:
