Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our vet has reccomended us to vaccinate our foals at three months of age. Is this correct for foals of this age, and is it safe?

There is a tendency to vaccinate foals at a younger age but this all depends on the loss of maternal immunity. It also depends on the date of birth in relation to the normal AHS season. I would tend to go along with your Vet's advice, and then repeat the vaccination in mid winter, thus ensuring that if the maternal immunity has been interrupted, you at least sensitize the foal for the next vaccination in summer.
