Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the definitive recommendation around exercing your horse whilst being innoculated with Horse Sickness Vaccine? Some say a) rest the horse for 3 weeks, others say b) rest only during the second week, my instructor says, c) he works his horses every day (during this period), others say d) work, as long as the horse does not sweat?

Horses having only had 1 or 2 vaccinations ( i.e. young horses)should follow manufacturers recommendation viz 3 weeks of no work after each vaccine.

Horses having had multiple vaccines (older horses) could be worked lightly in the middle week but this is contrary to manufacturers recommendations.
